Honda might supercharge everything starting with the CR-Z!!!
I was at the local Honda dealership the other day, poking fun at the Honda Accord V6 HPP they had on display. Apparently there are only 500 of these with lower and stiffer suspension and some trim bits here and there, almost all of them automatic.
This led to the unavoidable question, why is Honda suddenly pushing this HPP name on so many vehicles? You can buy a Civic Si with the trim too, but also there are HPP parts for a few of their vehicles, so whats going on?
It turns out, according to the guy at the dealership this is Honda's new performance branding, but it goes further than Honda ever has before. In fact, it finally answers the call Honda fans have been begging for decades. To supercharge everything!
OK, not everything. Starting with the CR-Z as a "testbed" for the market, the CR-Z will be offered with the HPF performance package, this is not news. It was leaked before months ago and confirmed at SEMA. What I had not heard was that if this is successful, prepare to see it more.
Honda also plans to bring this, if the CR-Z HFP is successful to Accords, Civic Si, and maybe everything else. Initially it will be a from the factory option, but if the success is good enough, Honda wants to make it a dealer install option.
It might be a rumor dealerships are using to keep suckers like me drawn in. I am on my 7th Honda / Acura and heavily considering a WRX or Toybaru next... But a supercharged Civic Si could change that.

If Honda does supercharge a lot of it's lineup, then we might see Honda fanboys get a bit of their bad rap removed, since the cars will have a bit more than V-TEC, YO! behind them.
I'm genuinely excited about this now!

This actually might be it, in its entirety. The plethora of fun noises from the Si... Whooosh of the Supercharger followed by the VTEC!
